About Us...
Sixth Avenue Church of God is located on corner of 6th Avenue and 4th Street
(click map link for directions). We are a part of a large movement of churches
who identify themselves as the Church of God (whose general offices are in
Anderson, Indiana). The purposes of this affiliation are for encouragement,
accountability, and partnership for the mission of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In short, we can do more together than alone.

Our Beliefs...
First, "the Bible is our rule of faith." Rather than creedal statements based on
Scripture, we rely on the whole of Scripture as the inspired Word of God to inform
and direct our faith understanding and practice. Secondly, "we extend our hands in
fellowship to every blood washed one." We believe that salvation through faith in
Jesus Christ makes you a member of God's Church, regardless of which church
building you attend; as a result, we work toward and in unity with believers in
ministries locally and worldwide to share the Gospel.
Our Ministries...
Our lead pastor is ken oldham and our student pastor is james alexander.
We meet at 9:30am on Sundays for a service "blended" with hymns, praise choruses, prayer,
scripture, and message. Following worship, we have an open time of study
and discussion in small groups for ages 13 and up and Sunday School for ages 0 to 12.
At 6:30pm on Sunday evenings, we have "Worship for Sleepy Heads" service.
It is not simply for those who cannot attend in the mornings, it's for anyone who is
willing to admit they're not fully awake to the things of God in their daily lives and want
open dialogue for confession and encouragement to challenge them to enter the next week more
alert to God. This service has a contemporary worship experience with open times of Q&A while
you enjoy the free coffee or tea.
On Wednesdays, at 6:30pm we have a vibrant children's program, youth bible
study/acitivity, and adult bible study.
