CHURCH STAFF

Todd Toles - Lead Pastor
Todd and Sandra both come from an emergency services background.
Sandra is an RN with over 20 years' experience as a paramedic and
a trauma nurse. She now works as a hospital case manager for the
cardiac units. Todd was a Captain in the Huntsville Fire Department
until he retired with full service credit in 2006 to pursue full-time
vocational ministry. They have been married since 1990 and have
four children.
Todd feels that all believers should serve God through some sort
of ministry, and is committed to training disciples within the
church to do so. Through expository bible teaching, Todd exhorts
and encourages believers to get off the pews and get into the
spiritual war serving God. "Come serve with us", he is fond
of saying, "and if you don't know how to serve, we'll train you!"
His favorite book as a young boy was "My Side of the Mountain" by
Jean George. One of his all-time favorite movies is "The Man from
Snowy River", but he also loves a good George Romero zombie movie.
His favorite music is Christian Rock. He placed his faith in
Christ and was born-again in 1970 near his 8th birthday.

James Alexander - Student Pastor
James and Mary met and married while earning their ministry degrees
at Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City, OK. They
served as volunteer leaders at South Agnew Community Church of God
in OKC from 2004 to 2007. In December 2007, they were called to
6th Avenue Church of God where they serve as the leaders of Student
Ministries. Their passion is to make Disciples of Christ by
building relationships with and serving young people inside and
outside the Church.

Grant Miller - Praise Team Leader
Grant was born in Decatur, on the 20th birthday of pitching great
Randy Johnson (of course, he would not know this until many years
later). He grew up in church, but did not fully place his faith
in Christ until hearing Kurt Salierno speak in 2001.
He is very
thankful to have the opportunity to lead worship amongst a body of
believers that are frequently willing to abandon all preconceived
notions of what worship is, and even more thankful to work with
superb leaders that consistently offer genuine examples of what it
means to "offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing
to God".
Grant married Alison Phillips in 2005, and has three
young children that cause him to constantly fret over his parental
abilities. His favorite hobbies are listening to music (which
consists of mostly indie-rock), playing WordFeud with complete
strangers on his Droid X, and trying to teach his children
life-lessons at every turn.

Gen Graham - Benevolence Ministry
Gen and Wanda came to 6th Avenue about 6 years ago on their way to
wherever God would have them. It just happened to be Decatur,
Alabama. They were working in a previous church in Georgia with
the homeless and were looking for a place to become more involved.
They immediately felt connected to 6th Avenue due to the warmth of
the people here. They were accepted despite appearances and financial
wealth. Acceptance was a big part of us being connected to the church
here at 6th Avenue.
They are truly blessed to be a part of a place and people that are into
helping others, whether it be in our neighborhood or the other side
of the world. Gen's favorite book is Stephen King's The Stand,
Traditional/Smooth Jazz is his kind of music, and have just recently
got a new favorite movie, "The Book of Eli" with Denzel Washington
which he thinks is great, although he tends to lean heavy toward
the Anne Rice type of vampire movies.
Both he and Wanda very much enjoy doing for others. Wanda has been a volunteer
with the Volunteer Center of Morgan County and Alacare for the passed
5 years and Gen's piddled around the church since the day he
started hanging around.
