Before I was saved, I was on the wrong path. I thought that I could control everything in my life. My moral compass pointed in the direction that satisfied me and not God. I got in trouble and the old saying "He will end up dead or in prison" definitely applied to me.
When I was 23, the Holy Spirit prodded me to read the New Testament. I'd always read every night before going to sleep, but I never had thought about reading the Bible. During my reading of the New Testament, it hit me like a ton of bricks: GOD IS REAL-JESUS CHRIST DIED ON THE CROSS FOR OUR SINS. I immediately changed my behavior. Shortly thereafter, based on faith in the Lord and being miserable in my job, I quit and went into industry. I got a degree and ended up with a much better job. No doubt this was God's work in my life.
Although I'd changed my behavior drastically after being saved, I still held on to some of the old ways. I didn't go to church, I only had a personal relationship with God. Through the years, the Holy Spirit has further prodded me along to where I have the closest relationship ever with God. My wife and I are a part of a wonderful church family; and due to God's grace and mercy, we have the fullest life possible. None of this would be possible without Jesus.
